Martinsen currently plays for Düsseldorfer EG of the German Elite League (DEL).
Martinsen is 6’3″ and 205 lbs at the tender age of 24. He is a left-handed shot that can play both center and right wing.
The has played with Dusseldorf EG of the German Elite League and Lillehammer in his native Norway. Martinsen has played for Norway’s national team on several occasions, including World Juniors in 2009-2010 and several World Championship teams.
A large, tough forward with a good shot. Enjoys the physical part of the game and crashing the net. Has good speed and decent hands. (EP)
It can be hard to find decent video of some of these European players, but here are a couple bits of film on Martinsen.
In this first one, Martinsen wears jersey numbers 71 in some clips and 84 in others.
This is a fight from Martinsen where the refs try to keep these guys apart for a long time and then just say, “Fine, go!” Martinsen throws about 3 punches and drops the guy.
This signing absolutely smells like the ones for Borna Rendulic and Dennis Everberg. The international scouts for the Colorado Avalanche are identifying players with size, skill and grit to help add depth to the organization. Martinsen is big (6’3″, 205) but still could get larger, has some pretty good hands, a nose for the net and isn’t afraid to mix it up. He is another very intriguing signing for the Avalanche out of Europe. Can’t wait to see what this guy has when training camp comes around.
